Maea's quick thinking with the fiery bug zapper saved them all a lot of hassle with the life-draining Void insects, and it was a good thing that Thalassa followed suit. The three of them were able to traverse close enough to the flash of faintly glowing amethyst so that everyone could see their prey, and as they did so the burble of water grew louder and the ground beneath their feet grew softer and less stable.
Tal glanced over to his friend with bobbing nod of gratitude for keeping the bugs off, and as she iterated their options he opened his mouth - properly protected this time, at least - to give his opinion--
But Captain Thalassa was already in motion, reaching between the dangerous flowers to snag at the glimpse of purple hidden in the shadows. Her hand closed over it - soft and silky instead of hard and cold - just as the ground beneath her feet gave way, sending her tumbling into the hidden, overgrown spring. Maea had stayed back far enough to avoid falling in, but as Thalassa disappeared with a splash the sense of dread that had been increasing as they moved closer to their prey would spike high. Shadows began to collect at the edges of her vision, a haunting sense of danger and threat that would vanish if she turned to look at them, but only seemed to be ducking out of sight before she could quite catch their forms.
It was Tal's turn to be the cool head of reason in the group, perhaps because of his recent experience with the hallucinatory pollen. "Fuck!" He dropped his hand to his Bag of Holding and pulled out his rope, tossing one end to Maea and wrapping the other firmly around his arm. "Hold on t'this or tie it around somethin'!" He didn't notice her sudden distraction as he dropped his Bag and pushed through the poisonous flowers in order to jump in after Thalassa!
The nat 1s are strong with this PQ+, and Thalassa has fallen into a small, hidden cenote after grabbing a hold of a Void Lotus! The waters are dark and dangerously cold, making it hard for her to orient herself!
