Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
Maea's abrupt embrace stunned Thal, causing every limb to freeze in a panicked imitation of fight or flight. She had to stop herself from diving back into the water's murky depths to escape the physical contact. However, once she got past that initial shock, her body sank involuntarily into Maea's arms. It'd been so long since she'd felt such a caring touch. She'd almost forgotten what it felt like for someone to worry about her wellbeing. And although she couldn't recall a specific memory, it felt important, like it was something her body needed. Something it craved.
Thal resisted the urge to hug the other two closer to her, settling for a light hand on each of their backs, an acknowledgement of the affection and a compromise of her conflicting emotions. The wetness that sprung to her eyes was luckily disguised by her dripping hair that clung to her face.
Listening to Talyson, she wondered what kind of treasure might be hidden within. She wasn't eager to return to the cold clutches of despair, but now that she knew what to expect, Thal wasn't going to let fear turn her from a possible discovery. Shrugging her shoulders as if the idea didn't drag an icy finger down her spine, she said nonchalantly, "I'm already wet. Plus, I'm a stronger swimmer than recent experiences would support." Thal cleared a little more water and weakness from her throat, trying to push out a chuckle to lessen the tension. "I was just surprised." Whether the others believed her or not, she let the words strengthen her own resolve like a mantra. If necessary, she wouldn't hesitate to brave the darkness again. After all, she wasn't alone.
Thalassa is willing to dive back into the water to look for the cave.
