Flora could only stare as Maea seemed to slip into some sort of fugue state given the faraway look in her eyes and the weird way she was breathing. If it was some sort of a ploy for sympathy it certainly wouldn't work on the Doubletake, not since Jack had hardened her to the manipulations of others. Of course the queen knew nothing of the drama going on in Maea's life, but would it have made the slightest bit of difference if she did? Probably not.
