If anything, he simple wonders if she means Maea would stick around to watch them swim which was odd, but not weird, and he huffs a soft rumbling laugh before he shakes his head, until Maea’s voice reaches them and he pauses for a moment, head angling over his shoulder toward her.
“No, but you have a tendency to follow, don’t you?” He calls back toward her, his smile fading slightly into something sharper and rougher, arm tighter where it holds Flora’s against his side. No pleasantries, do darlings or dears.
