It's in these lingering moments where Jack doesn't mind the closeness Flora craves - when the world is silent but for the pleasure and satisfaction that floods every delicate thread of his magic, and there's space between each heartbeat to be, not in the sense of what he is to everyone else or what he's built himself up to become, but to just exist in the way he might have as an Abandoned without the extra burden. The moments usually only last seconds, granted, and the shutters that glide seamlessly down around his mind soon have him extracting himself from any prospect of lingering intimacy with another person. Not today though, apparently.

Shifting enough only that Flora might be able to get a real lungful of air with each breath, his eyes press shut against the whisper soft feel of her lips and hands, almost resenting the touch as much as he craves it. At least she has the good sense to offer a distraction, and Jack scoffs a laugh into the crook of her neck. "I wouldn't say better, love," he agrees, his voice a low and husky rumble against her skin. "I still wouldn't say no to it either, though."
