For all of Flora's youth, she's had her fair share of life experience, such that she's likely not ignorant of the fact by now that Jack is starved of a great many things in his day to day. Telepathy, control over a black market empire and his lips against the ears of Torchline's most influential might be one thing, but things that should seem simple, like company? Amusement? Joy? The captain has never stopped to think about it, but all of those things belonged to the man he'd been before the war, when Torchline's shores were as far as his cares extended, and there had been people worth tethering himself to.

All of that is to say that Flora's buoyancy and light hit almost like a drug, and as they plunge deep into the springs and the captain releases her to (attempt to) swim away, he's carried off with it entirely. Surfacing quietly with the water rippling all around him, the Doubletake's retribution is something he doesn't bother to deflect with his magic, relying instead on good old fashioned swimming to make chase after her.

Reaching out as if to snag her around the waist, Jack will attempt to haul her up and over his shoulder. "Well if there are gemstones," he's saying, sounding theatrically bored, "I don't see any reason for stickin' around here, do you?"
