Flora's performance and the pale sheen of the man's thoughts come back into range of Jack's telepathy just in time for the Doubletake to rise to her feet and leave him to his anxiety, and so it looks as though the captain's sharp smile is a greeting for her and nothing else. Accepting his drink and giving some blase remark about the number of cabins on the ship and how dark it is below decks, he takes a grateful sip of whiskey while she applies lipstick both to herself and to his collar.
Raising an eyebrow before realising quite what she's covering up, his arm returns around her waist as they meander towards the opposite railing - the side of the ship he'd dumped the woman over, conveniently enough. "She's gone. Wherever down there leads, that's where they'll find her now," he mutters, nodding into the haze of darkness that has replaced the view with the blanket of night. "All in a day's work, right?"
