Stomping into the water, without waiting for her body to acclimatize to the chill, Flora dove beneath the surface and let the shock of the sea freeze the hangover-shakiness she felt in her limbs, trading the shivers of her sympathetic nervous system for genuine ones. Surfacing with a gasp, the queen was easily able to tread water with her feet as she pushed her soggy curls out of her face.
