"It's a seedpod," she explained, her voice carefully neutral, trying to quell the rising tide of confusion and doubt, "From a tree in the Suvahasi. Hadama, the mer-king, told me about it. He believes it can... help. Against the Void."

"I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to do," she admitted, her voice faltering slightly. "But... maybe... hopefully it can counteract the corruption. Maybe it'll bring some balance back to the land, or cleanse it. Maybe it'll act as a protective barrier... or a conduit for something..." The possibilities felt literally endless.
