To his left, a tell-tale squawk: he turns slowly, taking the void messenger into his sights, the string pulled taut against his ear. And though this time the arrow flies true, the cursed creature seems to predict the attack. At the last minute it darts away, leaving Koa's projectile embedded in the branch where it had just been.
