Aurelia
Aurelia laughed at the sight of Ronin's both serious and amused expression as he repeated the warning back at her. It's a genuine laugh, one well-needed. She tossed the broken brick into the cart and fell into stride with him, wiping off the dust from her hands before giving him a pat on the back of his shoulder.
"White Knight, huh?" she mused, her voice light and teasing as she fell into step beside him. "Didn't you used to be 'the Dark Star'? Sounds like Vi was trying to give you a whole new image, a fresh start away from Safrin's influence."
A thoughtful smile played on her lips, a hint of wistfulness in her eyes as they passed by the children engrossed in their game. The sight of their carefree joy, their laughter echoing through the plaza, stirred a longing within her.
"What's it like being a parent?" she asked, her voice soft and curious, "I never thought about having kids myself, but I always wanted to open up an orphanage."
Her gaze drifted towards the distant horizon, her thoughts turning inward. "My parents both died when I was young, and there weren't any places like that where I came from. Shelters for the needy, a safe place for those who had lost their way..." she explained.
She shook her head, a rueful smile touching her lips. "But, ehhh, I don't know. It's just a dream, I guess. A distant memory from another life."
They reached the disposal area, and Aurelia, without hesitation, joined Ronin in emptying the cart. The task was simple, mundane even, but it felt good to contribute.
