Tal had, once again, managed to put his foot in his mouth and mix up his meaning. But Zavien's silence meant the miscommunication went over the courier's head, and he didn't realize he needed to correct anything, taking his friend's kind smile for a look of understanding. More importantly it was a look of support, and he felt relief wash through him at the sure knowledge that he really could rely on the dragoon through thick and thin.
The feeling was only bolstered when Zavien's already-clear concern for him redoubled over the threat of poisoning and the revelation that followed. Tal felt heat creeping up the back of his neck and his ears and he ducked his head, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck with his uninjured hand as he dropped his gaze sheepishly. "I... well, uh... I mean, I dunno what I'd do without you, either," he mumbled, clearly touched and struggling with how to convey his own emotions as clearly as the dragoon had. "...'anks, Zavien." The words, through gruff, were heartfelt as he leaned over Boreal's grumbling bulk to bump his shoulder against his friend's affectionately.
He barely realized that the other man was still gripping his arm and he retrieved it sheepishly, giving his fingers a careful flex to make sure the Healing was well and truly set. "It's a little dangerous, but nowhere near as, uh... painful? as this one," Tal assured his friend hurriedly. "I gotta hunt a Daemon in King's End an' collect some parts o' it. Gonna try an' call in a favor or two, make sure nothin' goes wrong," he added, hoping to reassure his friend after the scare he'd just had. "Not takin' any chances with it!"
