This might actually be their first real conversation, now that he thinks about it.
And she sees right through him as she's always been able to do; just as Safrin might have been offended by Jack's waiting to visit her, he might have been horrified and paranoid by being unable to tell what she's thinking, but if anything, it's almost a relief. In some ways, anyway, and that same smile turns very self-deprecating as she continues. "Some might call it a kink," he agrees; and a particular one at that.
