Well things sure do happen - most of them to Flora, and none of them to the sea panther, and for those of you out there who assume that Jack is absolutely heartless, well something certainly clenches in his chest as he watches the Doubletake go down. Knowing better than to look that sort of feeling in the eye, especially under these circumstances (read: dire ones), the captain is crossing the sand to Flora's side even as the Taliesin Dad Bros take it in turns to appear and do what they do best.
Feeling something shudder across his skin and knowing it to be benevolent even if he wants to distrust it on instinct, if Jack also realises that the White Knight has healed him as well as the Bastion shielding him, his thanks will have to wait.
"He ain't that ugly," he says of Noah, though he does as Remi orders. With a lingering look at Flora, the captain darts past and back into range of the panther, unleashing yet another whip of air magic towards it. There will be time to understand all of this later - for now, there's still a monster to kill.
