His telepathy doesn't tell him if he hits the creature or not, and given that Remi has taken all the pain from his failure and Sah has successfully walloped the panther with his air magic, maybe the captain just assumes that he was part of that success? Sure. Anyway.
With the Bastion rightfully keeping his daughter close, the captain is free to whirl back around towards the Void Sea Panther as it targets the Wild Thunder only to vanish again, and he grits his teeth. "Don't suppose anyone can keep it where it is?" he ventures, setting off yet again to put himself back in range of those tentacles, unleashing a blast of magic towards it.
A rinse and repeat from Jack! He gets back in range, unleashes his air magic, and asks whether there might be some way to stop the panther from teleporting so much.
