we show off our different scarlet letters
Gods but it's so stupid, and yet Flora can't get enough. It sparks a breathless sort of joy that has her wanting to tilt back her head and scream his name, to write K O A on the flattest stone she can find and skip it across the pond where it might remain undisturbed forever.
Trying to get her feet back beneath her properly so that they can continue on past the bridge without Flora wobbling all over like a newborn deer, Flora stills in the dragoon's arms as he begins to lead them in a direction she hadn't thought would come up until at least dinner.
Clearing her throat softly, her fingertips reach up as if they might smooth the sudden flash of colour off of his cheeks. A number of things rise to her lips in response, none of which seem like the right thing to say, but as the seconds tick by, Flora knows her silence is going to imply the wrong thing if she doesn't just get a hold of herself and say something.
"With everything that's happened with us, I guess...I sort of wanted to see how this went first before..." Cutting ties with anyone else? "..you know, building it up to be something it wasn't." Flora murmurs, before her eyes slip from the glowing embers of Koa's gaze to rest near the collar of his shirt. "I've been sleeping with someone else." She admits, and now it's her turn to have scarlet flash across her cheeks and band over her nose. As crass as it was to say she was sleeping with Jack, it wouldn't have been right to say she was seeing him either. "It's just been one of those things." She adds lamely, swallowing hard. "But that's all it is." Which wasn't strictly true, not since the Doubletake had caught feelings for the captain, but as he'd made it quite clear that he wasn't looking for a relationship, no part of it felt like a lie, either.
