"Thank you." Feeling suddenly all the more foolish for having bothered Safrin in the middle of the night—though arguably that was one of the best times to seek out the goddess of the stars—Flora tried not to collapse in on herself. Instead, she straightened, trying to absorb Safrin's calm and poise if only to stop the runaway thunder of her own breaking heart.
"I can do those things, and..." Glancing at the altar, the lack of an offering, the unlit candles, Flora frowns and gives her head an apologetic shake. "..I'll do better next time." Forcing herself to rise onto her feet, knowing that she couldn't simply wallow in the lighthouse, Flora wiped the tears from her eyes before bowing her head.
Twisting her invisibility ring before pressing the button on her compass to take her home, Flora slipped back into her bed not an hour since she'd left it.
