Well, if the Oerwoud is able to hear the party communicate, it will be both cognizant of the way they don't really work together, and it'll be preparing itself against any plans they make. Or maybe it's just reacting to the sound of voices without interpreting their meaning. Who knows, honestly?
At leastTalyson is able to rally around Sah, mending his broken ribs and allowing him to get himself somewhat back into the fight.
Perhaps it's because Flora is concentrating so hard on a relatively small (in comparison to, say, a gigantic void sea panther) target that her dagger goes wide into the canopy. Or maybe it's because that same horrific nether vine drops from the jungle behind her, meaning there was nothing for her to hit in the first place. Either way, it lashes out at the Doubletake - and cracks her hard across the back and shoulders with enough force to send her tumbling into all those ahead of her.
Namely Noah and her tide jaguar, but luckily the Forsaken doesn't need to aim for this particular skill. The roar hits - though what it hits he can only imagine - and something shivers and ripples unhappily overhead. Alas, there is no time for him to also activate his shield.
But then - gods - then there'sSah, and he ought to consider indulging in the 'young Queen's advice more often. His lash of air magic slices directly upwards, connecting with the very same something in the canopy. And this time it screeches, showering the group with a viscous and oily black substance that can only be blood.
One by one, those hundreds and hundreds of beady eyes open over the group, and several more nether vines drop from the foliage. They quiver and undulate, as if preparing for a particularly nasty retaliation.
Everyone gets covered in grossness, yay!
