There are times where the world seems to say fuck you in particular. Whether or not Flora has inherited her (adoptive) father's terrible luck this time around is likely not something anyone can answer for sure. But either way, out there somewhere, Ronin is wincing. Just wait and see.
As the nether vines writhe all around,Talyson is able to slash out with his dagger and, for all of his protests about not being able to see the jungle for the jungle, he connects with a devastating blow. The Oerwoud itself seems to shriek and quiver, the vines continuing to undulate and vibrate. Perhaps it's his attack that makes it wary of Flora's next thrown dagger, but for whatever reason (rolling a 5), the Doubletake's attack goes wide again.
For all of Noah's good intentions, he's unable to conjur another Atomic Roar so quickly, and so whilst his commands ring out around the group, it isn't accompanied by anything more than his stony resolve.
Whatever he says, though, it must have ralliedSah somewhat, because once more the Wild Thunder's arc of air magic wrenches the canopy above, and yet another gush of stinking void rains down upon them.
That's not all, though.
Those vines haven't been quivering for fun, people. Having prepared itself, the creature whips out - at everyone at once - before the vines are slorping back up and up and away into the foliage. As luck would have it, they miss the vast majority of the party.
All but Flora, a vine cracking across her shoulders, though blessedly it doesn't take her with it as it slithers away.
