Pain. White hot, searing, pure pain ripped through the demigod’s body. He was immediately overcome and his mouth filled with warm, gurgling blood. His feet flopped in a helpless looking way as he was lifted off the ground by the roots. His head throbbed and he choked, spitting blood in a crimson spray. Glacier eyes widened in panic and pain, and every instinct in him told him to just keep fighting.
He gasped. Well, he tried to gasp. It was mostly gagging and choking in his own blood that bubbled still in his throat. He gritted his teeth and closed his eyes.
While he knew it might — most likely wouldn’t — do anything to the monster attacking him, he had to. He reached for Vi’s divine might and spread the brilliant dome across himself and his friends, trying to bring vigor back to his own body and if he was lucky, give some back to his friends as well.
