What am I doing?
The Luminary paused in the shadow of the City Gates, slipping out of the stream of people entering Stormbreak to lean against a nearby wall. Not for the first time, she wished that it wasn't the height of Longheat - if it had been colder, she might have managed to get away with a cloak or something that could hide her face. As it was, she felt horribly exposed, and her nerves were getting the better of her. Every time a stranger looked her way, she felt her heart jump into her throat. What if the Family found her? What if she was captured again?
But she'd had to come. She had to see for herself how her home had changed - or not. By all accounts, there wasn't much difference in the day-to-day life of most of Stormbreak's inhabitants. While Soh was relieved that things hadn't gotten worse since her disappearance, so too was she unhappy that things hadn't gotten better. She'd had such big plans for the region in the time before; now, she wasn't sure where she stood, or what she wanted, or how to move forward.
At this moment, though, moving forward looked like taking one step toward the Gates: one step, and then another, and then another, until at last she found herself in Stormbreak's borders for the first time in seasons.
