Everyone wants to see heaven
But no one wants to say goodbye
But no one wants to say goodbye
Soh offered a tentative smile at Lena's praise, relaxing a bit beneath the summer sun. If the Caretaker could forgive her, if their reunion could be pleasant and filled with relief, then perhaps Soh would find her other friends to feel similarly. Maybe things weren't as bad as she had assumed. Maybe they didn't blame her the same way she blamed herself. And maybe they would understand where she'd been and why. Maybe it wasn't entirely her own fault after all. Especially if there was something she could do now to help, to contribute.
She thought back to a time when she'd had a second home here in Torchline, and her heart twisted painfully as she shook her head. "I was planning to stay in one of the inns. I haven't decided yet." But she would have somewhere, at least, that offered a roof over her head and fresh food to fill her belly. "I don't know how long I'll be here. Maybe just a few days." And then she could go where she pleased - well, almost. As long as she could avoid infection.
