As Jack no doubt would quickly realize for himself if he hadn't already, it was altogether too strange the way the captain seemed to simply appear at Vesper's side, as the (admittedly young) telepath wasn't used to relying on his sense of hearing to assess when others were approaching him. Glancing a touch sharply over his shoulder at the captain because of this, the boy let his shoulders fall away from his ears with nothing more than a casual shrug.
Not terribly strong at all, Vesper places himself between two more burly crew members that their strength might offset his own, and though he contributed little to actually hoisting the sail, his palms would show enough blisters to prove that he'd put in more than a cursory effort.
