He spots the crimson that blooms on the Maverick’s face and it becomes an image branded into his mind, storing the memory away for later as Danta clears his throat and slides off of him. He takes the moment of freedom to fully stretch out, enough that his spaded tail trembles with the force of it before he pushes himself up to throw on his clothes again, too.
He doesn’t dress up as impeccably as he had been when he’d returned home earlier that day, but it still is leagues above where Danta is. (Sometimes Asta takes into account just how dressed the Maverick gets in order to determine if he goes flawlessly or just getting home from work, dressed-down chic.
Today’s venture back out into the warmth is much more relaxed than earlier, but it doesn’t stop him from snagging the bag with their snacks within (and intending on stealing a bottle of wine on the way out to complete the little picnic), before he’s right back precisely where he would give everything to be.
Right at Danta’s side, he steps out along with him to enjoy the rest of the day. “Only as much as you are, darling.”
