Lena strived to direct her attention between Zavien, the plants, and the insects (itching not to grab at her bags and find her notebook again) – grounding herself with all the ebullience, excitement, and complete lack of trepidation. For her part, she found no need for restless nerves, content with the notions of simply being in preferred and favored company, snagging at potentials. With her rapt composure, she shot him another grin, thoroughly amused and delighted at each and every turn. “I suppose I can see why,” she hummed. “But it’s kind of them to give what they can.” She winked and wrinkled her nose in turn, also struggling to peruse the menu through enthusiasm and elation, or occasionally tugging on Mittens’ leash as the snowball craved to wander and hover a little too far (snapping at the occasional bug).
Luckily the waiter was nearby, and perhaps both could concentrate on listening. She followed over and after the details, eyes widening briefly at the notions of so many mushrooms, and then tilting her head, contemplating. Her gaze flickered immediately back to the Dragoon, wasting no time in prospects. “I wouldn’t mind the gilled musk deer. Would that work for you?” And since they’d worked up a hungry ambition through sweetgrass scouring and running from banshees, she pondered down the list of appetizers. “What do you think of the mirage crab cakes to start?” Her stomach rumbled in return too, and she couldn’t help but laugh. “And maybe some waters with the wine too?” That way not everything went straight to their heads – at least in good spirits and attempts.
