Melita
they should have checked the ashes
of the women they burned alive

Thinking back, she tapped on her chin, then scratched the top of Fangorn’s head. “I mean – to be fair – we had some fights that were really, really bad. I’m sure you heard about the mud one at the Fiat Lux before.” Deluges of absolute catastrophe for bystanders and fighters alike, with heartbreaking and unsettling loss, especially amidst Flora’s own family. Melita hadn’t been so bothered by recent war-time events like the giant roaming through Torchline, but she also hadn’t been witness to Enzo’s devastating demise. Maybe it was all relative in the end…but they hadn’t had it easy in the past.
Leaving that out there, her gaze drifted back to the beasts below, in swirls of fog, mist, and grumbles. The indication left by Flora already had her glancing towards the cannons, the sentiments of her grin unfurling again. “We’d be doing him a favor, right? Can’t imagine he’d like all of these monsters roaming out there.” Not that they were much of a threat to begin with. Plus – if they missed, what were they going to hit? More fucking snow? Batting her eyelashes back at Flora though, they did have to mire around one portion of politics; and mostly on pretense, because Melita didn't care. It could certainly affect the Doubletake though. “Do I have the Queen’s permission?”

because it takes a single wild ember
