Realizing his error in telling her to 'relax', he shook his head, more disappointed in himself than anything else. She was trying, but Zavien obviously wasn't making it easy. Was there another method he wasn't thinking about? Something to help her better understand?

"The point of rotating it is to build momentum and make it more difficult to defend against. It also takes more time and energy to stop and start an attack than redirecting the movement." Zavien may not be book smart, but he knew fighting in and out. Tapping his staff against hers, he made sure she was ready before proceeding. He tried to simplify it as best he could. His right leg stepped back again, pushing the bottom of his staff forward for her to strike against. "You're doing great. Now step back, staff out."
