Tal didn't look entirely convinced by Rhi's reassurances, but she seemed unhurt enough that he settled for a gruff harrumph and reaching out to briefly rest his hand on her head. He refrained from mussing her loosened braids though he cleared his throat and added: "Just don't get cocky, short stuff."

He took a seat at the kitchen table, his fingers brushing over a familiar scar in the wood, and picked up his spoon. "Oh, th'delivery business is goin' pretty good. But I've been runnin' into my share o' th'Void, too. We've been makin' good progress pushin' it back, though! Hail, th' last time I was in the Oerwoud..." He paused long enough to eat a spoonful of chili and then he was off, half the time using his spoon to help describe the fights he'd been in and the gods he'd channeled.
He stayed a lot longer than he'd meant to, catching up with Rhiannon, and Boreal curled up under the table to nap while the humans chatted. By the time he left the snow was falling more thickly and he had to run to make his next delivery, waving back at his childhood friend before ducking out of sight around the street corner and back to work.
