The dart is different to hold than how the butcher would hold a throwing knife, and he tries to push aside his thoughts and the anxieties finally loosening in his gut to throw the green dart.
And he watches as it plunks into the wall beside the dartboard, not even close to one of the targets. It’s off enough that the butcher straightens, brows inching together as he hums. “That cannot be right.” Comes the complaint, more of himself returning in light of the failed throw.
