There was nothing she could say that sounded helpful, and so she trailed off, stumped in a way she never would have been back in the before.
"I'm staying here for a while," she told him. "With Flora. If this is your last trip here, then I might not see you for a while. Maybe we can just... sit for a while? If that's okay with you?" And maybe for now, that would be enough.
