Despite being in Alys' presence, Jack's words had the Doubletake utterly tongue-tied and twitterpated as she met the captain's bold blue stare. It was one thing to have him drape an arm around her chair or even to seek out her hand in a crowd, but it was another entirely to have him so explicitly cementing the status of their relationship in front of anyone else. Having to lift her chin as if the bubbles of delight that had formed in the back of her throat might spill out of her lips if she wasn't careful, the queen bit at the inside of her cheek as she fixed Jack with an affectionately menacing stare.
