As he starts to put together the dry ingredients, he pauses to step over and inspect the almonds, hands dusted with flour that reach up to cup his jaw gently and leave a handprint behind. “They are perfect.” Pressing his forehead to Danta’s briefly, he withdraws back to the bowl of dry ingredients, measuring out the baking powder to add to the flour and adds a little bit of salt. Mixing that until it’s thorough, the butcher begins to incorporate the dry mixture into the wet, slowly enough to be able to mix it in without any lumps to find their way in.
His tail slips over toward his lover, winding around his leg with a soft tug to invite him closer as the mix begins to make it all the way together, enough for him to start rolling them into one inch balls. “Now, would you be so kind as to roll these in the almonds? And when you place them on the sheet, press your thumb into them to create a small divot such as this—” He shows him how to do it with the current dough mixture in his hand, sans almonds. He holds it in his palm and presses his thumb in just enough to create that space they can put the jams in later. Then, rolling it back up, he starts to create the pile for Danta to get started.
