"Uhm.." Flora's surprise continues, though she does her best to try and disguise the way her stomach clenches as something ugly begins to shift in the back of her mind. Koa had mentioned Lena to her; had she just imagined what they were to one another? Had she never meant enough to him to merit talking about her to his friends...? Clearing her throat and forcing her smile to brighten, the queen shrugs. "We dated for a hot second." That wasn't even strictly true, but it was far easier to say than we fooled around on and off for months, fucked up the timing, he was the first person to ever say he loved me and then I broke his heart.
"Oh, no don't be. She did it to herself." Not for the first time Flora wonders whether saving Maea's life had actually been required of her. "Honestly? No idea." She replied, wrinkling her nose. "We don't..uhh...run in the same circles, I guess you'd say." Which again was easier than saying Flora thought Maea was a bitch who'd weirdly insulted her once when she was out on a date.
"But anyway.." Moving to stand, the queen brushes snow off of her pants and then her shoulders, squinting at the House of Midnight in the distance. "..I should probably go, or at least, find somewhere less worrying to sit." Waggling her compass in her hand as if to indicate she was about to leave via magical means, Flora lifted her eyes to the caretaker and smiled. "It was nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping to check in, that was super kind of you."
And the with a push of a button, she was gone.
