Zavien

Tucking away the information, Zavien tries to nod his head before stopping short with a sharp tug. He grimaces a weak smile, fighting the urge to say 'thank you' again, certain that Sunjata will tire of the words with the number of times he's already said it and would like to continue saying it for the rest of his (hopefully naturally long) life. If Sunjata can do it despite his multiple scars and close calls, he can too, right? He ignores the part of him that highlights their major differences, clutching to the hope that he can do the same.

To hear that the others are safe... the relief comes again, weakening his resolve to stay awake against the pain. "That's... bittersweet." Whether it was Tarak or Sascha, he's immensely grateful that he'd had the foresight to leave Sol at home. Whoever it was must be feeling about as bad as he is. They may be alive, but at what cost?

The shift onto the awaiting bed sends his vision into darkness for a moment, ears ringing through the disrupted wounds that he swears he can hear tearing. He clenches his teeth, barely catching Sunjata's advice amongst the haze. As the nurses swarm him, Zavien meets the demigod's gaze, his green eyes darken with seriousness despite their lack of focus. "Understood." No more dying. Although he'd think more on what that means once he's slept for a while.

The wall of bodies cuts off his view from the demigod more with each second and his eyelids become heavy with the weight of the day's events (had it really only been a day?), but he clings on for a moment longer. "Sunjata?" This time he doesn't fight the words or the overwhelming exhaustion. "Thank you..."

Find a place inside where there's joy,
and the joy will burn out the pain.
