vesper
Vesper absorbs Nova’s kiss on his cheek with a flicker of amusement, though his smirk softens into something closer to warmth. "Happy Deepfrost," he echoes, his voice quieter, more genuine than usual. He watches as she twirls with her new pin, the silver glint catching in the fading light, scattering reflections like fallen stars. Then she’s spinning back, holding it out to him with bright expectancy, and Vesper huffs a low chuckle. "Yeah, of course I can," he murmurs, taking the pin without hesitation. He steps closer, careful as he lifts a section of her golden hair between his fingers, threading it back with the ease of someone who’s done this a hundred times before despite having done no such thing. What can he say, he's good with his hands. Satisfied, he tucks the pin into place, letting his knuckles brush against the strands before stepping back to admire his work.
Vesper scowls at the mention of some guy SHoWiNg CaLy AroUnd, rolling his shoulders like the thought physically irritates him. "Oblivious or not, don’t mean I gotta like it," he mutters, mostly to himself, though the sharp edge in his voice makes it clear he’s still chewing on the idea. "Show you around,” he scoffs under his breath, shaking his head. "Like you need a damn tour guide."
Still, Nova’s earlier suggestion about a family trip nags at the back of his mind, and after a beat, he exhales through his nose, tilting his head in reluctant concession. "But yeah, we’ll go to Halo," he drawls, flicking his gaze between them. "Just not in Deepfrost. Ain’t got a death wish." His smirk is laced with dry humor, though the protective weight in his stare lingers on Caly just a second longer before he lets it go, and instead watches as she twists her own hair into an effortless, sunlit bun, securing it with the golden pin.
"Looks like it was made for you," he says, which, technically, it was.
