Her past had been easy to let go of - she had been a part of a family that didn’t like or understand her, and so leaving had been the logical thing. It had been harder to find a new place to belong, and that had only come once she had found people who loved her for who she was, not because they were obligated to by blood.
Finally, Alys sighed. ”I think that probably looks different for everyone.” Where she might once have reached for Sascha to calm her, there was now nothing, and she felt the loss so keenly that she felt she might cry. ”The leaving was easy for me. I didn’t get along with my family, and there was nothing to keep me in the Grounds. The finding a place to belong was harder. I think it’s about the connections you make - or at least, it was for me. Finding friendship is what made me who I am today.” And love, of course, but love had only strengthened what had already been present. It was a the friendship, she’d found, that was important.
And though she hadn’t touched her cards since the day Sascha had died, she found herself offering her services anyway. ”I don’t know if you know, but I’m a seer. I work predominantly with the tarot. Sometimes the cards can be helpful in discerning a path forward. If you’re ever interested, I could do a reading for you.”
