"I'm glad you like it," she murmured, smiling softly as Remi inspected the gift. As he handed over the second glass to Ronin, Maea's gaze followed and she watched his expression for a reaction. "I saw them and thought of you... and I really wanted to express how grateful I am. To you both." Not only for returning her to life, but for the steadfast friendship they both offered, no matter that she had managed to make a mess of so many things in the past year.
Even now their presence buoyied her. Maea could feel eyes on her, was all too keenly aware of a couple in particular swirling around the dance floor that she wished to avoid if possible. But as long as she was wrapped up in conversation it felt... alright. Like the night might not be as dark as it could have been.
And it really was a pleasure to watch the finely wrought wine glasses glisten and catch the light like unmelting ice in hands of men who deserved more beauty in their lives. Gods knew, literally, they had been through enough already.
