Honestly having expected Remi to argue his case - or at least for him to slip into the travelling tongue to try and convince Mateo to discuss it further - the boy lets out a shivery sigh as his wishes are honoured, of all things. Clearing his throat and nodding without looking at the Bastion as he steps back, instead, as Flora's voice rings out, he turns to gaze over his shoulder and up the stairs. "Goodnight," he says roughly to his father, waiting for him to turn away before plucking up the gift and stepping back inside to shut the door.
Despositing the box on a nearby table (he doesn't think he has it in him to open it just yet, or perhaps for a while), he locks their front door and quickly pads upstairs, kicking off his bunny slippers on the landing and slipping into Flora's room. "It was Remi," he mutters. "Trying to apologise. Can I sleep in here? Your boyfriend is a dickhead and I hope he does not get any sleep tonight because he is thinking about how much of a dickhead he is, by the way." Suddenly it's much easier to be on the same page as his sister about Jack's actions.
