At least, that is until the thundering on the stairs has him perking up, sitting up on his good elbow as it distracts Danta, too. The knocking is enough to wake the dead, despite the fact that they weren’t asleep, but the butcher does release his lover so that the Maverick can go and investigate it – leaning over the mezzanine slightly to watch his lover depart with a soft little “I will be here if you need me.”
Solely because while security was Asta’s job here in the Dusklight, Danta trumped that by being the Maverick. The leader of the region, and should he be required to help he has zero problems with doing it. But up until that point, if it seems as if it’s a leader only affair, he’s happy to not stick his nose into it until Danta wants him to. So for now, he waits for Danta's return or the message to come down, taking the time Danta's gone to dress himself and clamor down from the mezzanine.
