Happy to feel that the air here has changed, the butcher takes his time wandering through the center beside the pews, eyeing the bones around the shrine with curiosity and glancing toward the pews that had his and Danta’s names inscribed into the stone, faded from centuries of wear.
Reaching the shrine, the butcher straightens his clothes and takes a moment of the quiet in, placing a ruby he’d snagged along the way onto the shrine before he pricks his finger in practiced motion, dripping it along the ruby in the center of the basin with his quiet prayer. “My Dark Lady. Might I borrow another moment of your time?”
