After Seren’s funeral, plans shared with leaders, and letters sent, other means and machinations were necessary. This venture felt like a more solemn walk to the Citadel’s altar, burdened by the events of LongNight, the trials and tribulations of present, and near future, and then the death of Safrin’s daughter, all combined into a Flowerbirth laden with less renewal, and more somberness.
As he bent his head low, and well before he made his declarations, the Sword placed a few artifacts and trinkets along the shrine, crafted to appear as trademarks of Seren: creatures composed in stars, a small, unfurling island, little pieces of cosmos, meant to reflect and embody veils. Thereafter, he took a deep breath, understanding the weights of departures for multiple lifetimes – but knowing it never got any easier. Grief could consume, until all that was left were simply figments of one's self; bones and ichor, flesh and blood, but the soul overlapped in desolation. Safrin, I am sorry for your loss. Tilting his head, he sighed, then took a step back, continuing on the vein of purpose and determination, for the impending fixtures that would eventually arise. And I have finished my tasks. A way to improve, to fortify, for the journeys ahead.
