there exists a tipping point between gods and monsters
"Course I did," Jack says, his tone softly incredulous, and perhaps somewhere in his mind he's finally beginning to connect the dots about Flora's need for actual and verbal reassurance. Still, there's apparently nothing that can't be resolved with enough kissing, and whether or not it's actually true, he's content to give the Doubletake all of what she's craving and then some. Clasping her against him so it won't matter whether or not she overbalances on her toes, he kisses her until the breath is screaming in his lungs, and even then it's a difficult thing to catch it when he's flooded by the broken dam of her thoughts.
"Noted," he says, of his wedding-coded gifts, though even without her saying so, Jack absolutely won't be doing that again. "Marriage ain't anythin' I ever considered or gave any credit to," he tells her, frank as ever. "So it ain't about want, necessarily. I'll leave it to you to sell me on the idea. I expect a presentation on it, and a full pitch."
Not now, though. Now there's the rope dangling behind him and The Ark hovering overhead awaiting instruction. "A'right. You and I are goin' for a stroll in these woods, and we'll meet the crew at the skyport," he decides. "Work for you?"
