Her hand felt cold when he released it, and she ran it through her hair so that she could ignore the faint sting of rejection. It was silly, she knew, to think of it that way; nothing had happened between them before, and after everything she had no doubts that it would stay that way. He probably didn’t even want her - and she couldn’t blame him, not after the way she’d treated him.
Still, she’d said her piece and he’d seemingly accepted her apology, which was a far cry from previous meetings. So for a moment, she was wonderfully, blissfully happy. The feeling was strangely foreign these days, for all that Koa thought she’d managed to stay warm in the face of a cold, cold world. She wanted to hang onto it for as long as she could, and if that meant that Koa could be happy too, well, all the better.
”It’s just here,” she said as they approached a large bathhouse built into a massive tree trunk. Soh looked up at Koa impishly. ”So… am I in or out?” she asked. She’d meant it when she’d said the ball was in his court, and perhaps it was stupid of her to tempt fate, but a part of her wanted to see what he’d do. And if he took it as a challenge… well, she’d let the dice fall where they may.
