Sing to me, I am not doing well
Getting tired of my own words
Was it karma? Had she done something to attract all the wrong kinds of attention at the worst possible time? The squirrel did not take the hint and when it only got more excited, eager to make this a game of tag instead of hide and seek, Maea huffed and shuffled up out of her hiding hole. A glance down told her that Alys was distracted with putting out fires, and given the smoke that hung in the air she hoped visibility would be low enough to offer her some cover. Getting tired of my own words
Abandoning her newest friend despite its overtures, Maea spread her wings and glided quietly down from the tree towards the base, trying her best to stick within the smoke and to be as silent as possible. Wouldn't it be nice if her ghostly appearance would let her blend in with the drifting haze, to thus slip past unnoticed? Whether it would work or not was anyone's guess; worst case she'd be caught in the open again, but if she was lucky... It was worth a shot.

Maea tries to escape the friendly squirrel by hiding in the lingering smoke and flying towards the base.
