The conversation invited more of the thoughts flooding through his brain; parsing amidst the things he hadn’t quite uttered out loud yet, uncertain how they’d be received. But here was where they could have their vulnerability and pieces juxtapositioned without the fierce scrutiny of judgement. “I was thinking that it could be protected more,” instead of the isolation – but everything invited and initiated onslaughts nowadays. And then the second half unfurled, weighing out the pros and cons from his mind, peeling away his shirt and tossing it aside, then his pants. “And I worry about putting the void cleansing parts back into it. If it remained a normal mending area, it may not be targeted.” And Halo wouldn’t be either.

But there was the crux of the problem – because then how would the remaining infected be cured, and for how long would everyone rely upon Halo for the answers…without striving to do it themselves first?

A long breath filtered from his lungs once more, gauging everything, unfurling the semantics. “I guess it comes down to if we want our region to stay subjected to their cruelty over and over again.” Or would it matter – once they’d all gone back to Starfall? Would it just always be a piece of the dangerous ambitions? Removing the rest of his layers, he cast far more admiring eyes upon the Evergreen, before settling into his side of the tub and water as well, not even bothering to disguise the unfiltered sigh as the perfected temperature reached his muscles, leaning back against the portions of the rim. “That is a relief.” Good news, in short supply. Already the soothing balms of the bath urged him onward, to be obnoxious and tear away all the other melancholic lacquer, granting a light splash towards her.
who we were before bones, before dirt, before even light
we have always been deep, restless souls
