Not seeing Melita, Maea, or Thalassa in the chaos, she had to assume that they were still hiding. Perhaps they hadn't even realized that there was anything to be concern about.
In any case, Alys made her way free of the crowd of merchants and paused to look around. Her emotion magic hadn't been much use - and had, in fact, been quite overwhelming - so she elected to focus instead on the things she could see and hear. She made a study of the area surrounding her, glancing around and even up in the trees, trying to see if she could locate any of the hiders.
