Well, he'd wanted distraction, and Maea's story certainly provided that! Tal blinked in surprise, brow furrowed as he tried to recall hearing about the leaders but... hail, he wasn't exactly in speaking terms with most of them, not about official leadery-type stuff at least. It was understandable that he was hearing about it for the first time now, and a shiver ran down his spine at the thought of the Reaper just showing up uninvited. "Uh... well, fuck," he mumbled, but it turned out she wasn't done yet.
He wrinkled his nose at the mention of Astaroth, unable to hide his own distaste of the smarmy gentleman, then grimaced in sympathy to hear about Flora picking sides. "Yeah, that tracks," he admitted, half under his breath. But then the big reason dropped and he winced, recognizing the self-flagellation going on across the table from him all too well. "Sure, but Flora died, too, didn't she? If she hadn't gottern 'erself killed, maybe t'other girl, well..." He spread his hands in a helpless half-shrug. "Could be she's just upset at herself an' takin' it out on you. Sucks either way, though." He blew out a heavy breath and reached up to run his fingers back through his hair, pushing it out of his eyes. "I haven't had much luck with those flowers, but if I find any I'll let y'know." Though he had his own plans for a flower if he found one, Sah and Noah willing...
But not until Sascha was back at Alys's side. "So, uh... about that whole dyin' thing..." He winced at his own tactlessness, but it didn't stop him from charging ahead like a bull in a china shop. "My partner, Alys, she needs t'talk t'folks who've died an' come back for a quest. Would it be okay t'give her your name?"
