The crowd buffeted Alys from side to side, and the seer fought to hold control over her magic as she sought escape from the mob. All in all, she made rather less progress than she’d hoped towards the base, though at least she didn’t get caught. Maea, on the other hand, was not so fortunate, with Melita’s disembodied voice ringing out from somewhere nearby to call her out.
The knowledge that Melita was nearby and would very likely catch her if she weren’t careful grated on Alys’s nerves as she continued to press forward, her illusion and air magic working together to attempt to hide not only her body, but her footsteps, as well. Careful where she stepped (in case she cracked a twig or something else to give away her location), Alys made her way steadily back towards the base.
