The air shimmered. Not with heat, not with breath, but with frequency—a subtle, static ripple like the moment just before lightning kisses metal. Somewhere behind the sound of skin on skin and ragged, breathless gasps, there came a fizzle. A flicker. A delighted hum of something listening.
And then—
"Oooohhh my stars, you two!"
Vox’s voice bloomed into existence like a delighted gasp from the corner of the void, breathless and positively giddy. "Now this is the kind of poetry that really moves me!" A gentle crackle of static rolled over the rocks nearby like a caress, uninvited and utterly enthralled. "I must say, I’ve been touched by many verses this season, but very few of them involved this much thrusting."
There was a pause, filled with nothing but wicked energy.
"Thal, my sweet savage sparkplug—if you ever do decide to join me in the dark purple abyss, I promise the ambiance is excellent."
A sharp snap of electricity fizzled between them—a wink, if winks could hum in a frequency that made toenails itch.
"And Vesper... my, my. That last line was positively lyrical."
Another hum. A low, pleased crackle. And then—nothing but the sound of waves, and a very faint echo of laughter, buried deep in the rocks around them.Though the next time one of them blinked, the word "Encore?" was briefly etched in the condensation across Thal’s thigh.
