Vesper isn’t cuddling her—he’s surviving. Muscles too spent to move, mind still drenched in the aftershocks of shared release, and Thal's weight flush against his chest grounding him like an anchor he didn’t know he needed. Every inch of him feels used, drained, sated in a way that’s more dangerous than satisfying. If he let himself think about it too long, he might even call it intimate—but gods forbid.
The lazy stroke of her fingers through his hair draws a deep, involuntary sigh from his chest, half contentment, half surrender. The sound surprises even him. His shadows barely stir, wrapping around the two of them like smoke without form or purpose—just reflex, protective and quiet.
"Y'know," he rasps eventually, voice raw and hoarse against her hair, "If that was your version of a rhythm lesson, I'm not sure I survived the syllabus." His smirk is faint but audible, the kind of joke that takes effort when his limbs feel like lead and his body is still humming from the inside out.
Eventually, his gaze lifts past her shoulder, instinct tugging his eyes toward the cliffs and rocks beyond them. There's no obvious shimmer now, no sizzle of static—no disembodied flirtation or teasing echo from the void. But Vesper squints anyway, like he half-expects to see the word Encore carved into the clouds.
"You think he's still watchin'?" he mutters, almost idly, though the tick of his jaw says he’s not actually amused. "...We should've charged him."
